Raymond Loewy

“Never leave well enough alone” was the motto and the autobiography title of the man who revolutionized industrial design, Raymond Loewy.  During his lifetime, Loewy designed cars, buses, appliances, products and logos, all the while claiming to make “the daily life of the 20th century more beautiful”. Some of Loewy’s more famous designs include the Lucky Strike pack, the Coke bottle, and trademark logos for Shell, Exxon, and the U.S. Postal Service.  His eponymous foundation, founded in 1991, hands out the prestigious Lucky Strike Designer Award annually to an established and a new artist, carrying prize money of 50,000 and 12,000 Euros respectively. click: www.raymondloewy.com
