The lowly shopping bag is grabbing attention again. Bloomingdales branded Big Brown Bag owned the sidewalks for years while other marketers contented themselves with slapping a logo on the side. Then Abercrombie & Fitch printed photographs of their iconic models on their bags. Saks did incredible holiday bags last year. A recent mall walkabout reveals designers everywhere are slamming for eye appeal on these underutilized walking billboards. Bergdorfs, Saks 5th Avenue, Juicy Couture, Victoria Secret have all ramped up their production values. Newcomer Martin + Osa has a bag the size of a suitcase.
